Description Double hemispherical map of the world. One of two 'modern' world maps that appearred in Ruscelli's edition of Ptolemy's 'Geographia'. Engraved on copper it shows a finely detailed double hemisphere map of the world, the first to appear in an atlas. Possibly adapted from the oval projection used for Gastaldi's larger world map.
