Description Þegar Abraham Ortelius lést árið 1598 komst útgáfurétturinn á kortasafni hans í hendur Johannesar Vrients. Hann lét prenta smækkaða gerð þess undir nafninu Epitome Theatri Orteliani sem aðrir höfðu í rauninni byrjað að gefa út áður. Hér sjáum við Norðurlandakort Orteliusar mikið smækkað úr einni slíkri útgáfu. Ýmsu hefur orðið að fórna við þessa breytingu á stærð kortsins, eins og t. d. flestöllum örnefnum.
Shortly after Abraham Ortelius' death in 1598 the plates of his map collection, Theatrum orbis terrarum, were acquired by Johannes Vrients. He continued the editions of the Theatrum and also those of the Epitome, the reduced version. Here we have Ortelius' map of the Northern Countries scaled down from some edition of the Epitome. Because of the change in size many of the place-names have been removed.
