Description Á 16. öld voru gefnar út margar eyjalýsingar á Ítalíu. Árið 1572 kom út í Feneyjum ein slík, L'Isole piu famose del Mondo, eftir Thomaso Porcacchi. Í bókinni er kort af Íslandi, gert af Girolamo Porro. Kortið, sem er prentað eftir eirstungu, er vel dregið enda var Porro kunnur kortagerðarmaður. Fyrirmyndin hefur, eins og hjá mörgum öðrum kortagerðarmönnum, að mestu leyti verið sótt til Norðurlandakorts Olaus Magnus. Nokkrar lagfæringar hafa verið gerðar, t. a. m. hafa Hólar verið færðir á réttan stað norðan fjalla. Það mótar nokkuð svip kortsins að ýmsir efnisþættir hafa verið sóttir til Zeno-kortsins, þ. á m. hinar sjö nafngreindu eyjar við austurströndina.
In the 16th century there were published in Italy many so-called Island descriptions. One of those was L'Isole piu famose del Mondo by Thomaso Porcacchi. The book contains a map of Iceland made by Girolamo Porro. The map, printed after an engraving, is well done. Porro, has like many others cartographers, sought his example to Olaus Magnus' map of the North. Corrections have been made, for instance the see at Hólar has been moved to its right place in the north. A few items have been taken from the Zeno map, including the seven islands off the east coast.
